Managing Banks and Programs

Mopis banks are nothing more than files.

Factory presets

When you load Mopis for the first time, it installs a copy of the preset bank on to your hard drive.

On Windows: The presets go in your Application Data directory. Usually, the location is Documents and Settings\(user)\Application Data\Mopis\default.mob.

Tip: You may have to enable 'Show hidden files and folders' under 'Folder Options' in Explorer to see your Application Data directory.

On OS X: The presets go in your Application Support directory. Usually, the location is (user)/Library/Application Support/Mopis/default.mob.

If the default bank file is missing or corrupt when Mopis starts, it will re-install the factory presets. So to restore the factory presets, just close Mopis, remove or re-name default.mob, and restart Mopis.

Saving and loading programs

If you edit a program and want to save the changes to the bank file, press the Store button under the program name on the Assign page.

If you want to save a program in a separate file, press the Export button under the program name on the Assign page. It will prompt you to choose a filename. The program will be saved in a .mop file (for MOpis Program).

If you want to load a program from a .mop file, press the Import button under the program name on the Assign page. It will prompt you to select a file. The bank file will not be updated, however, until you press the Store button.

Tip: Most sequencers will remember changes to a preset and store them in your project file (or whatever the equivalent is for your favorite sequencer). In this case, you don't have to store your changes to the bank file unless you want them to appear next time you start a new project or song.

Using an alternate bank

  1. Go to the Assign page.
  2. Find the Bank section and press the "Load" button.
  3. Choose the appropriate bank file.

If you want this to be the default bank loaded when you start a new instance of Mopis, press the "Make default" button in the Bank panel.

Creating a new bank

  1. Go to the Assign page.
  2. Find the Bank section and press the "Create new" button.
  3. Choose a file name.

Mopis will create a new bank file full of empty presets. To fill out a slot in your new bank, edit a program and update the bank file by pressing the "Store" button. If you want this to be the default bank loaded when you start a new instance of Mopis, press the "Make default" button in the Bank panel.
